Shemaya Geron with schoolmates

This is a photo from an excursion of students from the Jewish high school to Stara Planina near Sliven. It was taken in the 1920s. My husband Shemaya Geron is in the first row the third from the right. The excursion was organized by the Jewish school. In the town of Sliven there was a Jewish elementar school, where we studied until the 4th grade. Both Shemaya Geron, who was also born in Sliven and later became my husband, and I studied there. We were members of the Hashomer Hatzair. The organization took us on excursions, organized lectures in which they told us about Zionism and Israel, and we also collected donations for Palestine.
