Centropa is proud to announce the launch of Remember. Empower. Act: Memory, Identity, and Education Against Antisemitism (REACT), a new 24-month European project bringing together intergenerational memory, Jewish youth activism, education, and artistic expression co-funded by the European Union.

Mapping Jewish memory brings teachers, university and school students together from Germany, Greece, Hungary, Austria, Poland, Serbia and Croatia to learn more about 20th century Jewish history. Our aim is to strengthen European Holocaust remembrance by mapping historically significant sites related to the Holocaust and Jewish life before and after the war.

From 2-10 July, join Centropa and 60 teachers from 16 countries as we walk the streets of Vienna and Prague, take an interactive tour of Terezin, learn from scholars, visit historic sites of the 20th century, and design cross-cultural projects to bring together students from the US, Europe, and Israel...

Many of you already know him, after nearly 20 years at Centropa, Fabian Rühle has officially stepped into the role of Centropa’s Director.

Centropa is about storytelling—telling the stories of 20th century Central and Eastern European Jews through interviews, photographs, short films, books, and podcasts. As we head into 2026, Edward Serotta, Centropa's founder, is stepping down as Director, having documented 20th century Jewish life in Central and Eastern Europe for more than three decades.
