Shemaya Geron and his family

Shemaya Geron and his family

This is a photo of my mother-in-law Rebecca Geron, nee Asher, with her two children Ema and Shemaya Geron, and her sister. I suppose the photo was taken in Sliven at the end of the 1920s. My husband's sister is the first from the left in the first row, next to her is my future husband Shemaya Geron. In the second row my mother-in-law is on the left and next to her is her sister. My husband and I have known each other since we were kids. Our mothers were friends and even bathed us together. Our houses were very close to each other. In high school we got along well and went out with the same friends. My husband is also a Jew, one year older than me. He studied in the higher grade; my older sister Luisa was a classmate of his. We were not in love in high school. I was in love with a boy from the textile school, who was from Pleven. I became close with my future husband when we went to Sofia in 1944 to study at university.
