Matilda Mihaylova and Luisa Alhalel

This is a photo of my mother Matilda Mihaylova, nee Kohen, and my older sister Luisa Alhalel, nee Solomonova, taken during one of my mother's visits to Israel. It was taken at the end of the 1960s in Ramla in my sister's house. My sister Luisa moved to Israel with her husband Shalom Alhalel in 1948 and settled in Ramla. They had a nice apartment. My sister worked as an assistant nurse in a hospital in Ramla. At that time my mother lived with me in Sofia and helped me very much. My mother was impressed by the higher living standard in Israel. She also said that when she had to have her blood tested in Israel (she had diabetes), her son-in-law was not pleased, because it was expensive. My mother depended financially on my sister's family there.
