Anna Danon's uncle Iosif Aladjem with his son Marsel Aladjem

This is my mother's younger brother, Iosif Aladjem, with his son Marsel in Bankya. The photo was taken in the 1920s.

Iosif was a subject of frequent discussions because he was a socialist and everybody was scared that he might suffer for his political convictions. He remained loyal to his convictions till the end of his life and never left Bulgaria. His son Marsel was a financer, a councilor and something similar to a deputy director of TSUM (the Central Universal Store in Sofia). He was known as a very honest man. He died here in Sofia 3 years ago.
