Anna Danon's aunt Rashel Fransez

This is my mother's sister Rashel Fransez. The photo was taken in Kyustendil in the 1910s.

She was widowed with two sons at the age of 22. Her husband, Riachi Fransez, was arrested in 1925 for his socialist convictions and was beaten black and blue by the police. Within a year or two he died of tuberculoses - probably because of the traumas and hardships he had to endure during his lifetime. Her sons live in Israel. She died in Israel in an old age home with a very bad sclerosis. I don't know anything about the other women in the picture.
