The wedding photo of Shmuel and Kler Kalef

The wedding photo of Shmuel and Kler Kalef

This is the wedding picture of uncle Shmuel and aunt Kler Kalef. The photo was taken in Plovdiv on 2nd October 1938. My uncle had a hardware store in Plovdiv. He went to Israel in 1948 where he worked as a docker in a port and after that he had a shop in Ako. He has two daughters - Tilda, who is a clerk, and Rebeca, who is a biologist. There was a tradition then that everybody should make and bring to a gathering or some other occasion a ?masafa? cake, which was very popular at that time - it is made from ground almonds and sugar. After the wedding my uncle went on his honeymoon and left us plenty of sweets.
