The Riemer family on an outing

This is our carriage, and in it are sitting my father with my mother (in the front), with Fräulein Herta, my sister and me (in the back). I must have been not yet one year old when this photo was taken, probably in 1921. We also had an automobile, but not until the beginning of the 1930s. There was a live-in chauffeur who took us to school every day and brought us back. Daddy also drove, and Mommy took her automobile driver's examination as well, but whenever they went out somewhere, they were driven by a chauffeur - that was chic.
