Picnic in Ashkelon

This was our car: a Vauxhall, a well-known English car. We picnicked in Ashkelon with our best friends.

The other car was a Willys, the American car of our friends.

We would all travel around together. We even had a car and we drove all across Israel.

When we found a place we liked, we stopped for a picnic. I didn’t drive, but my husband did.

He couldn’t be without a car for one day. It was a big investment back then, a car.

They didn’t have many cars. You could park anywhere. Anywhere!
