This photograph was taken sometime between 1918 and 1920. At that time, my father was serving as a hospital orderly in the Czechoslovak Army. He did his basic army service in the town of Ruzomberok. In the photo my father is in the middle, holding what was apparently some mascot of theirs.
The Centropa archive has been acquired by the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington, DC. USHMM will soon offer a Special Collections page for Centropa.
