Mathilda Beraha

This is my mother, Matilda Beraha, nee Saltiel, in our house on Solonos Street.

We moved into that house as soon as we came down to Athens from Thessaloniki. We stayed in that house on Solonos Street for a while, up until the Italians had to surrender and we had to hide.

This picture was taken after the war, in the 1940s and she seems to have matzah in front of her, so I am guessing it was Pesach.

We stayed in that house in Solonos for a few years after the end of the war, we didn't have any money left, I entered university and had to study at that same kitchen table after dinner.
