Carolos Beraha as a child

This is my father, Carolos Beraha, at the age of ten. The photo was taken in Thessaloniki in 1908.

My father was born in 1898 in Salonica. When he was a young man, socialist principles and the socialist party in Thessaloniki influenced his views.

However when he grew up and started becoming someone of importance, he became a boss himself; when he started earning money he abandoned socialism and was never a member of any political party. What my father really wanted was to become Greek in essence.
