This picture was taken on April 25, 1981, the day of my father Menahem Montiljo's funeral.
My father was born in Sarajevo on November 9, 1910 to Moshe and Hana (nee Elazar) Montiljo and lived all of his life there. He worked as a tailor for the Sarajevo Theater and did other tailoring work on the side. He and my mother, Flora, married on January 29, 1939 in both civil and religious ceremonies. My father worked hard to support his family and give my brother Rafo and me the chance to finish university and make our own lives.
