This photograph of me was taken during one of our visits to New York, in front of a synagogue in Brooklyn. I don't know the exact date.
With a bit of humor I could say that I had a certain expectation of the Jewish quarter in Brooklyn. I thought that I'd just go for a walk in the streets and right away run into one of my acquaintances from pre-war Czechoslovakia, especially from the town where I spent my youth, Michalovce. I of course did meet friends, but not right in the street. We already had a meeting arranged with them ahead of time.
