Lili Herzog as Queen Esther

This is a photograph of our friend Lili Herzog, taken in Piestany in the 1920s. Lili was eight or ten years older than I. We were rehearsing a program for Purim, and because Lili was a very pretty girl, she was to play Queen Esther. Lili survived the war along with her parents. They were in hiding somewhere. After the war she moved to Canada, where she got married. But very soon she became a widow. I don’t know any more than that about her.
