This is my husband here. It was taken on 9th August 1921. In 1921, my husband was in the army. I didn't know him at this time, I know nothing about this picture. I have no idea where it was taken. I only know that he was in the army in Osfiasszonyfa- I have no idea where it is. As far as I know, it's somewhere around Szombathely. My husband and I were related. My husband was born in Budapest in 1899. He was much older than me. In 1929, when we got married, I was 17 and he was 30. My husband only had a secondary school education. Back then a secondary school final exam was worth a university degree now. He had a commercial secondary school final exam I think, because he [worked] in business, he dealt with salaries and stock-taking, sometimes he had to go to the countryside, to do auditing. He worked for MEFTER, the Hungarian Royal River and Sea Shipping Stock Company; I don't know what position he had exactly, some sort of a clerk. We converted to Christianity because of my husband's office, because he worked for the Hungarian Royal River and Sea Shipping Stock Company. This was a state-owned company and he was picked on at work. A colleague of his, who wanted to the best for him, pushed him to convert to Christianity, so that we would have no problems. In 1934, the Jews were unwanted already. And he liked his workplace. To be honest, I don't know if he was promoted after this. Back then, I didn't really care about rankings and suchlike. He always got a bit more money. Our name was changed to Hamos in 1934. My Husband did this; it was around the time when we converted to Christianity, but maybe even earlier.
