Andris Koltai and Nora Gervai

Andris Koltai and Nora Gervai

This is my grandson, Andris Koltai's wedding. It was held in the courtyard of the Lauder Jewish School in August 2002. It was a traditional Jewish wedding with everything it requires, you had the chuppah, the rabbi and all. The chuppah was erected in the courtyard and Rabbi Tamas Raj married them. On the right in the front is Andris and next to him his wife, Nora Koltai, nee Gervai. Their parents are also there behind them. Of the grandparents I was there. And there were other relatives as well, and the friends and colleagues of Andras and Nora, and a couple of good friends of the parents. There were even friends from abroad, from Israel, the Czech Republic and America. In the evening there was a wedding dinner in Hotel Beke. [Editor's note: There are many Jews among the guests of this hotel because it is possible to have kosher food here, although very religious Jews would not accept this food as kosher.] They went to Crete on their honeymoon, as neither of them had been to Greece before. Andris and Nori met in the Lauder Jewish Youth Camp in Szarvas. They have many Jewish friends, although they both kept in touch with some people from secondary school and university, who are not Jewish. They observe the high holidays, but they don?t observe Sabbath. Andris visited Israel once, he was there back in 1988 with the first Hungarian youth group, when there wasn?t even a direct flight from Hungary to Israel. Andris graduated from the University of Economics majoring in international relations. Then he worked at the Generali Insurance Company and in 2000, we went to work for a company in Germany, where he worked in East-European coordination. He worked in Germany until late 2003. Nora also worked in Germany, at a sociological research institute.
