| Traces of Memory. Saved from Oblivion. History The educational project Teaching the Holocaust was introduced in the fourth class of vocational school at the General-Technical School in Lubliniec for students in their last year of high school. This was based on the fact that the materials in the project require students to be at a certain level of personal and social maturity. It includes several levels (elements) and is not yet complete. In the summary (below), you will find the different elements as well as photographs.The other two documents below, "The Auschwitz Album" and "Traces of Memory", constitute two single lessons that were part of this project. | Opis projektu - Ażeby pamięć nie umarła History Lekcje poświęcone pracy z filmem Centropy o losach Teofili Silberring, a wcześniej udział w seminarium, zapoznanie się z filozofią nauczania i działalnością Centropy, podsunęły mi pomysł na przygotowanie i zrealizowanie opisywanego tutaj projektu. Zaproponowałam udział w tym przedsięwzięciu klasie I, w której jesienią przeprowadziłam lekcje na temat filmu „Aby pamięć nie umarła”, ponieważ dostrzegłam u wielu uczniów zainteresowanie tematem. Brali aktywny udział w lekcjach, dobrze do nich się przygotowali. Bardzo ważnym elementem, który mnie utwierdził w zamiarze był fakt, że spora grupa uczniów z tej klasy mieszka w miasteczkach położonych wokół Krakowa: Skawina, Wieliczka, Niepołomice, Proszowice, Wolbrom. Postanowiłam to wykorzystać. |

| Cross-cultural Cookbook Project other projects We began by watching Centropa’s film So Memory Doesn’t Die, about Teofila Silberring’s harrowing experience during the Holocaust. She was saved from starvation by a kind family friend who gave her blueberry pirogues at key moments, and we focused on the role these pirogues played in her story. After discussing this, students were asked to research an important food in their family, and then to make a cookbook page –either by hand, or digitally – and represent the dish and its importance in the family through images, colors, and design. We put the cookbook pages together into one cookbook and exchanged the cookbook with Bernadette Czehi’s class in Sopron, Hungary. In addition, students were given email addresses of students in Bernadette’s class and corresponded with each other throughout the project. |
