Military certificate of Carol Margulies

This is the military certificate of Margulies Carol, rank private, issued by the Military Commission of Targu Mures County on 31st March 1959. '16.10.41 T. Mures' is spelled under 'drafted' and '15.07.44' under 'discharged'. The 'Participation in war' chapter mentions that between 16.10.41 and 01.07.44 he was in the 'labor detachments' as 'workforce'.

In 1940, when he found out the Russians were coming, my father took a carriage to the border and told the guards, 'I want to go back to Romania'. But they didn't let him pass, because a Circular General Order had been issued stating that Jews weren't welcome in the country. Back in Czernowitz, my father was worried he would have problems because he was unemployed. So he asked my uncle for help; he hired him as a worker in his candy factory. He worked there until 1941, when they deported us. Before the Germans and Romanians arrived, I was doing my pre-military service. Then the trouble began.
