This ís a picture of my mother Margita Steinerova, nee Abrahamova, and me at the railway station in Banovce nad Bebravou. The photo must have been taken in 1933/34.
My mother was born in 1907 in Banovce nad Bebravou, which was in Austria-Hungary at the time. She had a twin sister called Irenka. I have to say that I was never really close to my mother. She never had time for me, so I do not know much about her. My mother died in Auschwitz in 1942.
I often spent the summer holidays at my grandparents in Banovce nad Bebravou. I had a nanny because my mother worked in a shop and here you can see my mother saying goodbye to me before getting on a train.
