The photo was taken in 1934 in Trencianske Teplice. You can see my parents, Jozef Steiner and Margita Steinerova, nee Abrahamova, having dinner. My father was wearing a hat for dinner.
My father came from a huge family; he had nine siblings: Nely, Wilhelm, Moritz, Siegfried, Esperance, Max, Margit, Gustav and Josefine. My father was born in 1895 in Bratislava, Slovakia, then Austria-Hungary. He became the owner of the Steiner bookshop along with his brother Max. He ended his life in the Holocaust in Auschwitz concentration camp in 1942.
I have to say that I was never really close to my mother. She never had time for me, so I do not know much about her. My mother also died in Auschwitz in 1942.
