Leopold and Franziska Brodmann in Shanghai

That’s a picture of my parents in Shanghai. Both of them managed to escape from Austria.

In Shanghai, my dad staged Viennese operettas for Chinese and Japanese people.

He learned the operettas by heart in Japanese, and he staged them together with actors from Germany.

He was very successful. My mum opened a small Viennese café, the “Wiener Stüberl”. She baked apple-strudel and other pastries.
