This is a picture of my maternal grandmother, Kamila Alterova [née Beranova]. It was taken in Luze in the 1920s. Grandma, and Grandpa Max Alter lived with us in Luze. Grandpa Max loved me a lot. That nice relationship was mutual, I also loved him a lot, we used to go out hiking together and for walks in the forest, we'd pick mushrooms and blueberries. I got a lot of mileage out of my grandpa during my childhood, because my parents were very busy with the store, and so I spent a lot of time with Grandpa and Grandma. Grandpa Max died in 1930, and is buried at the Jewish cemetery in Luze. Grandma Kamila died in 1938, after Munich, when Hitler annexed the Sudetenland, but she didn't live to see Hitler occupy us.
