Jiri Alter

This is a picture of my uncle Jiri Alter during World War I. I don?t know where exactly the photograph was taken, but it's from 1915. My mother's oldest brother, Jiri Alter, was born in 1891 in Luze. He was an astronomer. When I attended high school in Prague for two years, I lived with Uncle Jiri. He had two sons, Bedrich and Arnost, and a daughter, Erika. When Hitler came to Czechoslovakia, Uncle Jiri got an offer to go work at an observatory in England. He took the offer, and left with his family for safety.
