Jiri Kovanic and his daughter Helena

This photograph was taken in 1998 at our cottage in Nova Ves nad Nisou, not far from Jablonec nad Nisou, in northern Bohemia. On the left is my granddaughter Helena, on the right my only son Jiri. Our son was born in 1952. Originally he wanted to study electronics, but in the end we put him in a vocational high school, where he graduated in the field of instrumentation. He didn't like it at all. After his army service, to be more precise alternate army service, when he worked for CKD, he passed exams at FAMU, where he studied art photography. Today he works as a photographer, and has his own studio in the neighborhood of Vrsovice. His wife is named Zuzana. My granddaughter Helena was born in 1983, and is studying law. She's interested in Jewish history and the history of our family. She sings in the Jewish choir Mispacha.
