The picture was taken in 1934 in Osijek. My aunt Berta Grimberger (nee Grunwald) is pictured.
She is the younger sister of my mother Elza. She was born in 1901 in Bistrinci, Croatia. Her parents, my grandfather Marko and grandmother Eleonora, called her Lorika. They had a grocery store and she helped them in the store. She was married to Feri Grimberger for a short period but they quickly divorced. She was very pretty, capable and smart. She spoke German and Hungarian perfectly. But in 1942, she was taken to the camp in Tenja near Osijek. Later she was taken to Auschwitz and killed immediately.
