Hanna Yagupolskaya, my grandmother and my father's mother in Balabanovka.
My grandmother (my father's mother) Hanna Yagupolskaya was born in Balabanovka village in the 70s of the 19th century. She was exterminated in Uman in 1941. She was a housewife and was religious. She went to the synagogue, observed traditions and holidays, honored Shabbath and followed kashrut. She was very nice and kind. I remember how she prepared meals for me: she made flat shortcakes and spread some ground poppy seeds on top. See, I am 80 yeas old but I still remember my grandmother's shortcakes. The Germans killed her in 1941. My father failed to get her out of Uman.
