Claris Cobar

Claris Cobar

This is a photo of Claris Cobar, one of the daughters of Marcu Herscovici, one of my mother?s, Dorina Fiul's brothers. The photo was taken in Bucharest, in the 1930s, I think, but I don?t know if it was a special occasion, maybe one of her suitors asked for it. She had a rather interesting life: she was a very beautiful woman, and her suitors were extremely gealous on each other; one of them, a certain captain Tonegaru, actually fired his gun on a rival, on Victoriei Boulevard, in the very center of Bucharest. She was married to a doctor, I don?t know his name; it was only for a short period of time, but when they split up, he tried to kill himself, he cut his veins. He didn't succeed though. After that, Claris married Nel Cobar, a famous cartoonist in Bucharest at the time. They had two boys, who now live in USA, but I don?t know their names.
