Imre Rozenfeld, the brother of Judita Jovanovic’s mother, in a group of children

My mother’s brother Imre Rozenfeld is in this photo. He is the second boy from the right sitting on the ground. The picture was taken in 1935 in Subotica.

Imre was born in Subotica in 1926. At the beginning of 1942, he was in high school in Novi Sad. On January 20, the day before the raid on the city, an officer from Subotica recognized him as Martin Rozenfeld’s son and ordered him to leave Novi Sad and return to Subotica, thereby sparing him from what was to happen the next day. But two years later Imre Rozenfeld was executed in Budapest for his activities in the resistance movement.
