Transnational teacher seminar in Berlin

As part of the STAND UP project (Standing up for Remembrance: Testimonies from the Past as Lessons for the Present – Holocaust and Human Rights Education through Oral History), 25 teachers from Germany, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Slovenia, and Hungary came together in Berlin for a multi-day seminar.

The event aimed to strengthen educators’ competences in Holocaust education by providing them with access to personal testimonies and innovative teaching tools. Through workshops, discussions, and peer learning, participants explored strategies to counter Holocaust denial and distortion - phenomena that are increasingly spreading through digital media.

Beyond historical learning, the seminar also focused on fostering empathy, constructive dialogue, and depolarisation skills, empowering teachers and their students to address antisemitism, racism, and intolerance in today’s society.

This project was curated our Croatian partner, HERMES, and underwritten by the European Union.
