A throwback to our Transnational Kick-Off event of the “Mapping Jewish Memory” project, which took place September 8-9, 2026 in Vienna with 31 educators, NGO representatives and Jewish Holocaust survivors. The event provided an important opportunity to meet in person, exchange perspectives and set the foundations for our work ahead.
The program combined learning, remembrance and collaboration, including:
A walking tour which led us to historical sites connected to Jewish history and the Mapping Jewish Memory project. A meeting with Holocaust survivors that allowed participants to learn more about their personal stories, as well as a Kick-Off Workshop to coordinate the project activities, refine our work plan and establish internal milestones
It marked an important first step in strengthening our transnational partnership and developing a shared approach to mapping, preserving and engaging with Jewish memory across Europe.
We thank all of our guests and our partners and look forward to the next steps! Special thanks to our wonderful hosts in Vienna: DÖW!
Mapping Jewish Memory is coordinated by Centropa in cooperation with @doew.at, @galiciajewishmuseumkrakow, University of Patras, HERMES, Centre for Education Policy, JEWLIF. Associated partners: IfZ München and AEPJ and is co-funded by the European Union.
