Yesterday tour of Jewish Belgrade was inspiring and emotional. The most emotional part was site of Gospodar Jovanova where Kalef's lived and where their family met their tragic faith.
Don't be surprised if one of these women sticks a camera in your face and starts asking you questions! The questions are easy but you need to start planning how you handle being a star of their CSA video!
Since the first world decided to identify religious with national identity, people are suffering.
Stumbling on historically information.
Today we toured the Jewish district with a very good guide. He was both professional and sensitive. Being at a playground where the marketplace was with no sign or anything else to remember. We discussed if there is a "right" way to remember.
Also the visit at the big synagogue was enlightning. An organ at a synagogue! Made me wonder about the different kinds of ways to be a community, what is acceptable or not...How those dicisions influence people, whether they bring them together or drive them away...
Stumbling on something historically interesting!
This is the second time I am attending Centropa 's seminar. Today I was mesmerised by the walking tour in the Jewish district. I was really touched by Karl ' s Lutz Memorial and all the efforts he made , in order to save the Jews from Hungary. I was also impressed by the tree of sadness. The leaves of this tree have the names of Holocaust victims. The Dohany Synagogue was also impressive.
Excited and eager to learn new ways to motivate students using the centropa website. Finally, I made it to Budapest by train, which was quite an experience. Even though, I'm exhausted, my interest and curiosity keeps me attentive. I love the atmosphere created where there are no borders and we all are part of a bigger group.

For the International Holocaust Remembrance Day (27 of January) and the victims of the Pogrom of Bucharest (21-23 January 1941), the students of class XI E from the National College „Iulia Hasdeu” Lugoj have participated in January 2017 in the project entitled „Glimmers in the Night of the Holocaust”. The students involved in this project have engraved, by cropping, a series of notions and terms related to the Holocaust on cardboard cylinders.
