My maternal grandmother Sophia Buch whose maiden name I don’t remember was born in Saratov in 1870s. She was a housewife that was customary with Jewish women. My grandmother was short, thin, nice and quiet. I would call her timid. She always obeyed and listened to grandfather. She didn’t wear a wig and only wore a kerchief occasionally. She wore her hair in a knot on the back.
