hese Communists I met there inspired me with a genuine admiration. Everyone is aware – and I am aware of it too– that, after the liberation, many of them became activists and leaders of the newly-installed communist regime, while others, who were in the same camp, were the victims of their fellow Communists who had turned into leaders.
These things are known. But all I can tell you is that, back in the camp, they all behaved in an admirable way.
