My future husband was mobilized into the army when we declared war on Germany. From the labor camps he went to the army. I cried a lot when we were seeing them off at the station. The youngsters weren’t trained soldiers.

Before that some communists had come to the synagogue and made a propaganda that everybody had to volunteer. And a lot of them died. Two or three of them returned disabled. They made them do that.
