Sara Chelebi Lazar, Sofi Bohor Sabetai and Sofi Chelebi Bohor

Here is my mother Sara Chelebi Lazar with my two aunts dressed in special folk costumes from the Kyustendil region. One of them is Sofi Chelebi Bohor, my mother's sister (first from left), and the other one is Sofi Bohor Sabetai, nee Lazar, my father's sister (first from right). This photo was taken in Kyustendil but I don?t know when.

My mother's kin is from Kyustendil. My mother's name was Sara Chelebi Lazar, nee Bohor. Everyone used to call her Buka though, in Ivrit - bechurah - 'first-born daughter'. She was born in Kyustendil on 20th December 1894. My mother was an extraordinarily beautiful and patient woman.

My mother had two brothers - David Chelebi Bohor, born on 31st December 1905, and Isak Chelebi Bohor, born in 1908 - and two sisters: Sofi Chelebi, born in 1894, and Liza Chelebi, born in 1903. After World War II Sofi moved to Israel. She doesn?t have any children.

Sofi, my father's sister, was born in 1897 in Kjustendil. Her husband's name was Sabetai and they had two sons: Nissim and Hari, who live in Bulgaria and are pretty well. My aunt had two sisters - Oro and Viza and three brothers - Mordehai, Efraim and Nissim, my father.
