Maurice and Yvette Leon's wedding

This is the photograph of my wedding. In this photograph under the chuppah are we, the couple Maurice and Yvette Leon, nee Beza, in front of us is Rabbi Azaria and next to me is my nephew Sam Leon. My wife Yvette was born in 1935 in Thessalonica. She studied at Anatolia College in Thessaloniki. We got married in 1956. We were married at Monastirioton Synagogue. The synagogue was full of guests. The name of the rabbi who performed the marriage was Azaria. After our wedding we stayed on Natalias Mella Street in Thessaloniki. We rented this house. Later on we moved to another house on March 25th Street and later on to one on October 28th Street. We had a woman helping with the housework. She was staying with us. We didn't keep kosher in our house. But we continued to celebrate all Jewish holidays. We went either to my mother Riketa's or to my mother-in-law Sarina's house. We used to go to the synagogue on the major Jewish holidays.
