My mother's cousins, Nadya Babinskaya (Jewish name - Nekhama) and Nadya Gukhman (no Jewish name). The photo was taken in 1916 in a park in Kiev, where they lived at that time.
Nadezhda Babinskaya was a violinist at the Kiev Jewish Theater. Her daughter, a conservatory student and a violoncellist, was also there. For both of them life was very hard, as they were not used to hard manual labor. At the collective farm we were all ordered to do the heaviest work possible.
