Certificate of Bella Kisselgof 's mother Sofia Rivkina

Certificate of Bella Kisselgof 's mother Sofia Rivkina

This photo shows a certificate, issued to my mother, Sofia Rivkina, by the village council of the Jewish colony in Novo-Vitebsk on November 13, 1921 to confirm her social origin from a poor family. The Revolution of 1917 did not affect our way of life in Novo-Vitebsk. There were only two outstanding events - the opening of an 8-year secondary school and the issuing of all documentation in Russian. However, the stamps in the village council were in Yiddish.
