I don?t know when exactly this picture was taken, sometime in the 1910s, I think. It shows my paternal grandfather, who was called Abram Pikielny, in Lodz.
He was born in 1865 in Yeremiche. Grandpa Pikielny died in 1923, that is before I was born. From what I've heard he had his brothers come from the Nowogrodek area to Lodz.
He and his brother Jochel launched a manufacturing company, which operated in Lodz up till 1927 under the name Jochel Pikielny & Heirs to Abram Pikielny. That same year, the A. & J. Pikielny Textile Industry Joint-Stock Company was established in Lodz. It was to incorporate all the assets and debts and continue the first company's operations. A branch of the company was opened in 1928 in Zdunska Wola. My father's brother Henryk was the manager of that factory.
