Yield: about 6 servings
Prepare the Farfel Pilaf recipe (see here). Or cook farfel in boiling salted water until tender (15-20 minutes), drain, and combine with sautéed onions, garlic, and if desired, sautéed mushrooms and/or chopped carrots or parsnips.
Preheat oven to 350?F. Transfer the cooked farfel mixture to a greased baking dish. Stir in a large beaten egg. Season to taste with salt, pepper, and some good Hungarian paprika. Sprinkle with a little chicken stock and drizzle with good olive oil (or even better, dot with schmaltz).
Bake until heated through, the top golden brown, about 45 minutes.
