Open Call for Young Artists

Are you a young artist or fine arts students aged 18-30, who has first-hand experience with 3D art projects? We invite you to join iMemory, a transnational project that connects young people in order to commemorate the Jewish life stories of Holocaust survivors from the Centropa archives. The project takes place on the eve of the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II.

Project Highlights

Artists (aged 18-30) from Germany, Poland, Serbia, Croatia, and Ukraine are invited to create impactful 3D artwork that brings Jewish family stories to life. A transnational jury will select 10 winning ideas from all submissions. The 10 selected artists will have until September 2025 to create and integrate their art into the MemoryLanes Augmented Reality (AR) App together with the project partners. The final works will be showcased in the app and at at the final project conference in Krakow, November 2025, to which the 10 artists will be invited.

  • Why join?

Shape the future of remembrance, develop artistic research skills, and connect with a diverse group of peers and experts. The 10 young artists that are selected by the jury will receive an honorarium of 650€ for their contribution and will be invited to present their work at a workshop in 2025.

  • Artistic Contributions

Participants will be selected to create 10 new artworks that bring Jewish places of remembrance to life. The goal is to depict the biographies of Holocaust survivors from Centropa’s archive through 3D artworks. Participants with prior experience in AR are encouraged to submit, but it is not a requirement. The selected participants will be supported by AR professionals throughout the project.

The artworks will be featured in the MemoryLanes app, offering an interactive experience to users and integrating the project’s outputs into digital spaces for broader engagement.

  • Program Timeline

    • March-September 2025: Development phase, where participants will work on their artistic contributions.
    • September 2025: Finalization and submission of artworks.
    • November 2025: Presentation at the final conference, where selected projects will be showcased.
