Centropa organized a teacher training seminar in Zamosc from April 24-26, 2026. Together with our partners, the Galicia Jewish Museum from Kraków, we brought together 25 educators from all over Poland to discuss and share best practices on teaching and commemorating 20th Century Jewish history and heritage, on Holocaust education, and on promoting tolerance and active citizenship.
During the seminar in Zamość, participants explored Centropa’s educational materials for Poland, with special focus on the Jewish history of Zamość and Galicia. They learned how to use Centropa’s database, biographies, films, and photographs to teach Jewish history and the Holocaust through personal stories.
The program included a screening of “My Town of Zamość” about Mieczysław Weinryb, a historical lecture, a guided walking tour of Jewish Zamość, and a study visit to the Bełżec Museum and Memorial Site with an on-site workshop. During a “Marketplace of Ideas,” Polish educators shared lesson plans and projects based on Centropa materials.
The seminar offered practical tools, historical context, and peer exchange to support meaningful teaching about Jewish history, and Holocaust education in Polish classrooms.
The program was supported by the Friedrich Ebert Foundation, and co-funded by the European Union.
