From October 16–18, 2025, Centropa welcomed Lithuanian educators to a three-day professional training seminar in Vilnius focused on teaching Jewish history and the Holocaust through personal stories, photographs, and site-based learning.
Participants explored Centropa’s educational resources, engaged in workshops using survivor biographies and films, and developed practical lesson plans for classroom implementation. Expert lectures on the Holocaust in Lithuania were complemented by guided visits to the Vilna Gaon Museum of Jewish History, the Vilnius Choral Synagogue, the Paneriai Memorial, and a walking tour of Jewish Vilnius using Centropa’s AudioWalk.
The seminar brought together teachers from across Lithuania, as well as educators from museums, libraries, and non-formal education. Designed primarily for first-time participants, the program also included experienced Centropa educators who mentored newcomers and shared hands-on insights from previous seminars.
Through reflection and action planning, participants left with concrete tools and renewed commitment to strengthening Holocaust education and remembrance work in their schools and communities.
The Vilnius seminar was generously supported by the Claims Conference and co-funded by the European Union.
