Biljana Stojanović

Biljana Stojanović, history teacher, master's degree in educational policies. During professional career, she prepared and published several teaching materials for History teaching, which was the result of her research at the Georg Eckert Institute (Braunschweig, Germany), as well as a publication focused on the development student' competencies. She participated in many conferences (at the national and international level) and seminars organized by national institutions as well as international organizations (e.g. Council of Europe, Pestalozzi Program within the CoE, Yad Vashem, Memorial de la Shoa, Centropa OSCE- and others). Author and co-author of numerous accredited professional development programs for teachers in the Republic of Serbia.
As an employee of the Ministry of Education, in 2006 she initiated systemic and systematic Holocaust Education and connected history teachers from Serbia with Yad Vashem, Centropa and other international institutions dealing with this topic. Since 2011, she has been actively cooperating with Centropa.
For her exceptional contribution to strengthening the ties between the State of Israel and the Republic of Serbia, she received a Charter from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the State of Israel (2016), and the OSCE Mission in the Republic of Serbia declared her Person of the Year in the field of education (2006).
I like Centropa because it:
- offers teachers a wealth of materials on its website, materials for teaching and learning about the Holocaust;
- connects teachers from Europe, America, and Israel and giving them the opportunity to exchange experiences;
- launches projects that allow students from Europe to connect and work together on topics such as anti-Semitism and the Holocaust.
