This is a picture of my cousin Nadir Haim, son of my mother's sister Rachelle, and his friend Solon Molho, who later became my husband. It was taken at the beginning of the war since both of them were serving in the Greek army at this time.
They were serving at Sidirokastro, the frontier line between Greece, Yugoslavia and Bulgaria.
They were very close friends and I believe that they also went to school together. Actually it is through Nadir that I met Solon and I had a good life with him.
People tend to believe that Jews did not go to the army but not only did they go, but hundreds of them died during the Greek-Italian war.
