Jewish Witness to a
European Century

a tribute to the lands
of jewish heritage

As the first oral history project of family pictures and the stories that go with them, Centropa has now interviewed nearly 1,400 elderly Jews still living in Central and Eastern Europe, the former Soviet Union, as well as in Turkey and the Balkans. Each month, we upload more of the 25.000 images we have now digitized.

The Library of
Rescued Memories

a digital bridge back
to a world destroyed

Although we cannot visit - physically - Central Europe's pre-Holocaust Jewish communities, that world lives on in the stories and snapshots of those we've interviewed. Click here to see how we are turning these stories into short films that take us back into the homes, synagogues and streets of pre-war Central Europe.

share these films
with family members or schoolmates, or download them to your ipod and watch them while you are visiting the very cities in which these fims are set.
