Vera Tomanic's travel pass

This pass, issued in Osijek in 1941, allowed me to travel from Osijek to Belgrade and back again to take care of moving my things. This note was valid for only one trip and needed to be accompanied by legitimate photo identification. From April 10, 194l to May 15, 1942, I went to Belgrade several times with false documents. I went to check on my apartment and see if there was any possibility of finding work. At that time I had no income, because my husband was in captivity. In Serbia a law was passed that Jewish women would not be taken to camps, so later I succeeded in getting documents from the Germans that would allow me to continue to live in Belgrade.
