Semyon Nezhynski with his wife Irina Nezhynskaya

This is a picture of my wife Irina Nezhynskaya, nee Razumnaya and me, taken after the meeting with veterans of the war in Kiev on 9th May 1998. We always wear our military awards on this day. Irina has an Order of the Great Patriotic War, 2nd class on the left and an Order 'For Courage'. On the right, from top to bottom: medals 'For Victory over Germany', 2nd row: 'For Berlin', 'For liberation of Warsaw', 'For Defense of Zapoliariye', 'For Defense of Caucasus'. 3rd row: medals awarded on the eve of the 30th, 40th, 50th and 60th anniversaries of the victory over Germany. My awards, on the left in the photo, from top to bottom: the Order of the Great Patriotic War, 2nd , awarded for the Vistula/Order operation, 2nd row: 2 Orders of the Great Patriotic War, 2nd class, one of them was awarded for battles for Zapoliariye in March 1944 and the other one on the 40th anniversary of the victory. 3rd row: 2 Orders of the Red Star, one of them was awarded for battles near Novocherkassk in summer 1942 and the other one on a jubilee of the victory. On the right on my jacket: an Israel order for the victory in the war that I received on the 50th anniversary of the victory. On top on the right: the highest combat award: an Order of the Combat Red Banner awarded for participation in action for seizure of Berlin. 2nd row: my first combat award; medal 'For Courage' awarded in December 1941, medals 'For Courage', 'For Combat Merits', order 'For Courage', medals for seizure of towns, medals for defense of Zapoliariye and Caucasus. The rest of them are jubilee medals awarded on anniversaries of the victory over Germany.
