Remma Kogan, on a cable of the 'Center of Skiers' in Vorokhta

This is me, Remma Kogan, on a chairlift at the 'Center of Skiers'. This photo was taken in Vorokhta in 1984.

In 1973, my husband Yefim died at the age of 53. For a long time it seemed to my son and me that Yefim had just left for another tournament and was coming home soon. My friends cheered me on and supported me. They often came to see us and I traveled in the European part of Russia. Sometimes we bought tours at a travel agency in Odessa and sometimes those in other towns.

I worked as a district therapist in a polyclinic. Our chief doctor Dmitri Arkadievich Tsarkovski was a Jew and 90% of doctors were Jews. I was responsible for the provision of medical services to the district of Torgovaya Street near the Water Engineering College near the polyclinic. When I fell ill with myocarditis I stopped visiting patients on calls and worked as therapist at reception. I retired in 1980, but I continued to work until 1995, when I turned 75.
